Are you looking to purchase cheap breakdown cover in the UK? You probably don’t have any breakdown cover right now and are looking…
You’re amongst the many motorists on the road that drive without breakdown cover and when something goes wrong…
It’s harder for it to be fixed and put right.
So the question is, when you’re looking at getting cover, is cheap breakdown cover actually worth it?
What Is Breakdown Cover?
To firstly answer the question of whether cheap breakdown cover is worth it, you need to know what breakdown cover actually is.
There are many providers that will offer cover for you and your vehicle, and some will even cover you as a driver in another vehicle.
Let’s say for example, you’ve recently bought a used car with around 70,000 miles on the clock.
You went away on a road trip to see some family and when it was time to come home you’d spent a significant amount of money for your trip.
As you start your journey home, you notice something wrong with your car whilst you’re driving on the motorway and decide to pull over.
Your car’s got no power and it won’t move – a scary situation to be in!
This is exactly where breakdown cover would help you out.
You’ll know exactly who to call and when to call them because you’d be given a telephone number that puts you through to the right person.
Why Should I Purchase Breakdown Cover?
We take for granted that our cars get us from point A to point B.
We don’t think twice when making plans with friends and/or family.
You’ve happily agreed to give one of your friends a lift to their new job interview at 9am Tuesday morning and your car isn’t working.
Could it be a flat battery? Jump starting a flat battery without the equipment is going to require you to get in touch with a breakdown cover company.
If you don’t have at least cheap breakdown cover, who’s going to rescue you and your car?
Is Cheap Breakdown Cover Worth It?
If you look around online for breakdown cover, you’ll find that there’s a lot of companies offering different breakdown insurance options.
In general, you can’t really go wrong with cheap breakdown cover…
However, it will highly depend on the options you want, and it can get quite confusing with all of the options that cheap breakdown cover offers.
Here’s what I recommend:
- Purchase breakdown cover that covers you in any vehicle, and select the option to get your battery jump started again from home if you don’t have a battery jump starter.
Another thing to look out for when getting cheap breakdown cover is with the renewal price.
When I looked online for breakdown cover the first year was a great price, but it went up by almost 50% for the renewal price.
It’s true that new customers get the biggest discount but the renewal price tends to be a little more hidden from you.
Check the small print for the prices.

Have you ever turned up to the petrol pump and have been out of your normal routine lately…

As you go to check the price of what fuel you’ve put in you realise that you’ve put the wrong fuel into your car!
Don’t be – it’s something that happens by thousands of people each and every year!
Having cheap breakdown cover in this instance is likely going to make the whole scenario a little less stressful for you.
Whilst I haven’t personally done this as of yet, I suspect at some point I will.
Luckily, cars are getting smarter and smarter every day and as a result of this manufacturers are implementing features to try and stop you putting the wrong pump into your car.

Breakdown cover is a great way to help you out when your car actually does break down.
However, just because you’ve got breakdown cover it doesn’t really resolve the underlying problem.
